Loteprednol is the active component present in Lotemax Eye Drops. It is a member of a class of drugs known as Corticosteroids. It does not develop dependence and is available on prescription at local pharmacy shops and online drugstores. It was approved for medical use in 1998 and was patented in 1980. Lotemax medication works by decreasing the production of substances that produce producing inflammation and pain. Loteprednol has good ocular permeation properties. Post ocular administration, this drug is gradually absorbed into the blood, so the quantity of this drug in the blood is very small, and, thus it is less likely to interact with drugs consumed by any route of administration except topical ophthalmic.
