Ocuflox Eye Drops medication is used to treat eye infections. It works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria. Ocuflox medication only treats bacterial eye infectionssuch as conjunctivitis (i.e. inflamed eyes) and corneal ulcers (i.e. infection on the surface of the eye). Active: ofloxacin 0.3% (i.e. 3 mg/mL) and Preservative: benzalkonium chloride (0.005%). Inactives: sodium chloride with purified water. It may also contain hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide to adjust pH. Ocuflox is known as the ofloxacin ophthalmic solution by its active ingredient name ofloxacin. It is 0.3% is a sterile ophthalmic solution that is a fluorinated carboxyquinolone anti-infective for topical ophthalmic use. It is unbuffered and formulated with a pH of 6.4. Ocuflox Eye Drops solution is a fluorinated 4-quinolone that differs from other fluorinated 4-quinolones.

Instill one to two drops of Ocuflox Eye Drops every two to four hours in the eye(s) for days 1 and 2. Then instill one to two drops daily four times for days 3 through 7, if there is bacterial conjunctivitis. Instill the solution’s one to two drops into the eye every 30 minutes. Awaken at four and six hours on retiring and instill one to two drops for days 1 and 2. Instill one to two drops hourly, while awake for days 3 through 7 to 9 and instill one to two drops, four times for days 7 to 9 through treatment completion in case of bacterial corneal ulcer.

Usage instructions

  • Carefully read and follow all the instructions mentioned on the prescription leaflet properly.
  • Always clean your hands carefully with water before using Ocuflox Eye Drops. Avoid contaminating the applicator tip with material from the fingers, eye, or any other surface.
  • Use Ocuflox Eye Drops only in the amount as recommended by your physician. Its overuse can produce undesirable consequences.
  • While using this formulation lean your head back by gently pulling down your lower eyelid and instill the number of drops as recommended by your doctor.
  • Remove your contact lenses while using Ocuflox solution, if they are removable.
  • Tell your physician if you are suffering from any kind of allergy or are allergic to its active constituent, inactive constituents or other drug belonging to its category. Also, inform him if you have any eye problems.
  • This formulation needs to be kept at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture. Don’t refrigerate the bottle.
  • Keep the eyes closed for one to two minutes after its use. This prevents the medicine from draining out.
  • Keep it away from children.
  • The use of Ocuflox Eye Drops medication should not be discontinued without consulting the doctor.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to ofloxacin or to other quinolones (for example, levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin,)before usingit.Also inform about any other allergies.

Ocuflox Eye Drops may contain inactive ingredients which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Consult with your pharmacist for more details.

Before using, tell your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history, mainly other eye problems.

Ocuflox Eye Drops ophthalmic solution should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.

It is not known if Ocuflox medication in this product passes into breast milk. Before breastfeeding consult your doctor.

Ocuflox Eye Drops drug may produce temporarily blurred or unstable vision after applying it. Don’t drive, use machinery, or do any activity, which requires clear vision until you are very sure that you can perform such activities safely.
